Job description
Key tasks and responsibilities (all under supervision):
- Design, implement, and execute analyses of routinely collected health data (also known as Real World Data) to generate good quality Real World Evidence.
- Write protocols, analysis plans, study reports, conference abstracts, and manuscripts related to the characterisation and analysis of Real World Data.
- Review relevant literature on methods and best use of Real World Data, with a focus on the development and evaluation of medicines, vaccines, and medical devices.
- Attend relevant training, workshops, meetings, international collaborations, and conferences to improve your skills towards your PhD title.
- Travel within the Netherlands, Europe, and occasionally North America or Asia to participate in meetings and conferences.
- Comply with EMC regulations and requirements towards the completion of a PhD degree.

The department of Medical Informatics at Erasmus MC is specialized in using routine healthcare data. Currently the department is coordinating and collaborating in several projects that aim at building European and global federated data and research networks. We have extensive expertise in generating Real World Evidence to inform regulatory, HTA, and public health decision making.
Qualifications and skills
Essential Qualifications:
- BA or equivalent university degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Epidemiology, Biomedicine/Biomedical sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar.
- Fluent in English language writing and oral communication.
- Experience/knowledge of programming or coding analyses in R.
Additional (desirable) Qualifications or Skills:
- MSc or equivalent postgraduate degree in Epidemiology, Pharmaco-epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Data Sciences, or similar.
- Experience in the design, implementation, and execution of epidemiological or observational studies using Real World Data.
- Experience in the writing and registration/publication of study protocols, analysis plans, conference proceedings/abstracts, and manuscripts.
- Knowledge of the OMOP Common Data Model (CDM).
- Experience curating and/or analyzing Real World Data mapped to the OMOP CDM.
- Knowledge of European health data / Real World Data governance and/or regulation/s.
- Fluent in Dutch language and/or other European languages.

Terms of employment
- You will receive a temporary position for 4 years.
- The gross monthly salary amounts a minimum of € 3.108,- and a maximum of € 3.939,- (scale OIO).
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
- Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
- Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
