Job description

You are responsible for the organization and storage of large quantities of imaging data for medical studies. You are also working towards improving the current data management processes. You collaborate with policy makers, privacy contact persons, data stewards and research software engineers for the maintenance of a database that satisfies the privacy requirements and FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable & Reproducible). You will also collaborate with researchers that are using the data.

Your main focus will be the collection of data for studies and registries for stroke research, which are being performed in the CONTRAST consortium. Activities are among others organizing the imaging data (incoming data quality control, maintaining/managing the databases), check and clean-up of the imaging data, sending out image data for core lab assessment, and distributing imaging data to researchers.

Your tasks are:

  • Execute and contribute to data management in the department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Management of data access and storage.
  • Check and improve data quality.
  • Structured storage of data analyses results.
  • Communication with other medical centers for delivering data.
  • Performing the data pseudonymization and storage process to get data from various centers.
  • Sending out image data to be assessed by a core lab.

The department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine of the Erasmus MC is the largest department of Radiology in The Netherlands, and one of the largest in Europe. The Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam and the Imaging Office are part of the Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine. BIGR develops and assesses novel image analyses methods for biomedical applications and is internationally at the forefront in quantitative medical image analysis. Qualifications and skills

  • An MSc degree in for example Computer science, Neuroscience, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Familiar with at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Matlab, Bash) and willingness to learn Python.
  • Experience with working on Linux systems.
  • Demonstratable experience with or affinity with (exchange and storage of) medical imaging data (e.g. CTP, PACS, XNAT) is an advantage.
  • Strong in organizing things.
  • Accurate way of working.
  • Good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Good communication skills, to communicate with research software engineers and researchers.

You are motivated, service-oriented, work accurately and actively think about improvements for image datamanagement. You contribute to medical scientific research by your organizational and IT technical skills.

The position is open for junior candidates and candidates with relevant working experience, e.g. in a similar function or a PhD in this area.

Being able to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag, VOG) is a requirement for the appointment.

Terms of employment

  • Accurate way of working.
  • Good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written).
  • A one-year contract, with a possible extension of another two years.
  • A gross monthly salary between €3.765 and €5.160 (scale 9) based on a full 36-hour work week.
  • A 13th-month salary paid out in November and a personal travel expense budget.
  • A pension plan with ABP. We cover 70% of your pension premium, which means your net salary will likely be higher than you might expect.
