Job description

In this postdoc will become a member of the PROBE consortium; a 5-year project with 38 partners, aimed at revolutionizing the way osteoarthritis is understood, diagnosed and treated by developing multimodal patient-relevant endpoints, advanced predictive models, and next-generation clinical trial designs using federated big data and AI technologies.

  • Structure input from osteoarthritis experts on the selection, training, and harmonization of PROBE data.
  • Focus on patient demographics, patient-reported outcome measures, pain phenotype data, performance-based measures, and comorbidities.
  • Use foundation models created by data experts to oversee biomarker analyses.
  • Leverage insights from osteoarthritis experts in biomarker-related work.
  • Report study results in scientific papers.

Work environment

You will be employed in the research line on Musculoskeletal Disorders within the Department of General Practice at Erasmus MC. 

Our research aims to address questions with clinical relevance for patients and general practitioners in primary care and with a direct link to daily clinical practice. We strongly promote an evidence-based approach and aim to improve the management by general practitioners for patients with musculoskeletal disorders in general practice. 

Our studies are typically designed from a clinical epidemiological perspective and include, for example, large prospective cohort studies, diagnostic studies, and randomized clinical trials. We also have considerable expertise in performing systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

You will work in a pleasant office environment and maintain regular contact with other project team members. This facilitates easy consultation and contributes to a pleasant and collaborative work atmosphere.

Qualifications and skills

  • A PhD in Medicine, Epidemiology, Biomedicine/Biomedical sciences, Health sciences, Biostatistics, or similar.
  • Knowledge of patient-reported outcome measures, pain, performance-based measures, and comorbidities in osteoarthritis.
  • Experience in the studies on osteoarthritis biomarkers.
  • Fluent English in writing and oral communication.

Terms of employment

  • A 1-year contract with the option of yearly renewal, up to a maximum of 3 years, for the duration of your project.
  • The gross monthly salary between € 4.818,- and € 6.594,- (scale 11) based on a full-time workweek of 36 hours.
  • Budget for attending (inter)national conferences and PROBE consortium meetings, and academic training.
  • Partial working from home is possible.
  • Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
  • An International Office  which aids you in preparing for your arrival and stay.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
  • Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
