Job description
As a postdoctoral researcher in public health and landscape services, you will contribute to the interdisciplinary project Fertile Soils for Future Generations. You will work alongside experts from spatial planning, ecology, governance, economics, and public health to develop integrated spatial strategies for sustainable and resilient rural-urban regions. Your main goal is to integrate a health perspective into landscape services to address health inequalities and improve population wellbeing. You will therefore:
- Develop and embed a health perspective on landscape services within the project’s conceptual framework.
- Analyse how landscape services relate to health, wellbeing, and health inequalities, including differences in access, use, and valuation across population groups.
- Contribute to the development of a practical analytical framework and indicator set for healthy landscape services.

You will be embedded in the national consortium project Fertile Soils for Future Generations. This project focuses on understanding and strengthening landscape services in order to create sustainable, resilient, and socially just rural urban regions. You will contribute the health perspective within this interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications and skills
We welcome recent PhD graduates in public health, health sciences, epidemiology, human geography, or a related field who are curious, motivated, and eager to grow in an interdisciplinary environment.
You recognize yourself in:
- A genuine interest in how landscapes and places shape health, wellbeing, and equity.
- An independent yet collaborative mindset, with the confidence to take initiative and the willingness to learn from others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Openness to working with different disciplines and/or methods, while also engaging with partners from practice and policy.

Terms of employment
- A 1-year contract with the option of extension up to March 2028.
- The gross monthly salary between € 3.598,- and € 5.669,- (scale 10) based on a full-time workweek of 36 hours.
- A salary increase of 3,5% from July 2026, according to the collective labor agreement (CLA)
- Partial working from home is possible.
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
- An International Office which aids you in preparing for your arrival and stay.
- Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
- Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
