Job description

You will advise on and contribute to the design, analysis and publication of (pre-)clinical studies in the field of Hematology/Oncology. Much of this involves (inter)national prospective clinical trials, performed by the HOVON foundation (Dutch-Belgian Cooperative Trial Group for Hematology Oncology) focusing on the evaluation of new treatments and associated side studies. In addition you will perform general statistical consultation within the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute.

In this function you will closely work with investigators from different departments, both within and outside the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute.

The statisticians of the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute support the scientific research in the field of Hematology/Oncology. A team of 7 statisticians is responsible for the design and analysis of the clinical trials within several (hemato-)oncological specialties. The HOVON Data Center operates within the Department of Hematology and plays an international role with respect to the clinical trials in the hemato-oncological field.

Qualifications and skills

You have an academic mathematical, statistical or methodological education. You should have experience with (bio)statistical consultations, preferably in the field of clinical trials, survival analysis and prognostic models. Several years of experience as a trial statistician is a pre. You should have good communication skills and a collegiate attitude. Extensive experience with statistical packages and a good command of Dutch and English verbal and written are required.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity, diploma's and/ or relevant registration such as BIG/ RGS are conditions for the appointment.

Terms of employment

The appointment is yet for the duration of one year, after which, with proven suitability extension is possible. Your salary will depend on your level of education, relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours and will be minimum  € 2.750,- (pay scale 10) or maximum € 5.785,- (pay scale 12). In addition, we offer an 8,3% year-end bonus, an individual travel budget and study facilities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).
