A 4-year fully funded PhD position is available to work on somatosensory-auditory integration in the auditory system, focusing on patchclamp physiology and viral tracing. This position is part of a “Vidi” grant awarded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to Dr. Aaron Wong’s project “Hearing more than Sound”.
In this project, the candidate will use state-of-the-art viral tracing technique to map out long range connectivity. They will combine patch-clamp electrophysiology with optogenetics and holographic stimulation to study the properties of these connections. Ultimately, the candidate will create behavior paradigms to elucidate how somatosensory signal influence auditory perception. The candidate is expected to start in Summer or Fall 2023.
