Job description

Myonovum and Erasmus MC developed advanced hiPSC-based 3D-model systems of skeletal muscle for personalized testing of therapies in vitro. This involves molecular, cell biological, and biochemical analysis.

The focus will be on generating hiPSC-derived skeletal muscle cell lines, using the generated cell lines to create 3D muscle-on-chip models in combination with advanced technology to monitor contractile force and drug studies. Analysis of gene and protein expression, immunohistochemical assays, FACS will be performed regularly as part of the work tasks.

Work environment

Myonovum will be a spin-off company of Erasmus MC and specifically of the Molecular and Stem Cell Biology group in the departments of Pediatrics and Clinical Genetics. 

Myonovum is now operating within the research group of Molecular Stem Cell Biology, which is part of the Center for Lysosomal and Metabolic Diseases. This is a combined center for patient treatment, clinical and basic/applied research. 

Qualifications and skills

  • BAS in (medical) biology or comparable field (minimum).
  • Experience with molecular biological/cell biological/biochemical techniques. Such as (stem) cell culture, immunofluorescence analysis, enzymatic activity assays, quantitative analysis of gene expression, FACS. 
  • Knowledge of human physiology and pathology. 
  • Able to work independently, to plan, perform, and interpret experiments.
  • Having a good working pace and flexible work attitude and working accurately. 
  • Knowledge of hiPSCs cell culture and differentiation is a great advantage but not absolute requirement.
  • For this function it is preferred to live in or near Rotterdam area.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity, diplomas are conditions for the appointment.

Terms of employment

  • You will receive a contract for 1 year.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4.052,- (scale 7M) depending on your level of education and relevant experience, based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.
  • Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a individual travel expense package.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
  • Special benefits, such as an incompany physiotherapist and bicycle repairer. And there is also a gym where you can work on your fitness after work.
