Postdoctoral Fellow anti-tumor T cell behavior

In cancer therapy, the modulation of the immune micro-environment has a forefront position. Seminal studies have demonstrated that diagnosis as well as therapy selection for cancer patients may benefit significantly from determinants of a favorable immune micro-environment, particularly with respect to anti-tumor T cells. In this project, research makes use of multiple advanced technologies to discover and validate determinants of T cell fitness in relation to evolution and aggressiveness of rather unexplored tumor types.

To this end, defined patient cohorts with known treatment history and clinical follow-up will be immune profiled. Specifically, transcriptomics and highly multiplexed in situ stainings of tumor tissues will be performed, which will be supported by computer-guided analysis of density and spatial distribution of subsets of tumor and immune cells. In addition, advanced ex vivo models will be set up and used to analyze real-time interactions between T lymphocytes and tumoroids, particularly those that are derived from aggressive subsets of tumor cells. You as postdoctoral fellow  will work closely with experienced technicians, is involved in the writing of scientific publications and grant applications, and is supported and facilitated in setting up an independent research line within the laboratory of Tumor Immunology.

Profiel

As postdoctoral fellow:

• You have obtained your PhD in the field of immunology, and have hands-on experience with image analysis and/or tumoroids and their interaction with immune cells.
• You are highly motivated to perform research, take initiatives, communicate easily and cooperate in a team of researchers
• You are able to coordinate research and acquire research grants.

Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, valid proof of identity, and diplomas are required for this appointment.

• The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4.187,- (scale 10.5), depending on your level of education and relevant experience, based on a full-time working week of 36 hours.
